Y’all . . . .this is the most refreshing drink with bourbon in it I’ve ever had because of these two ingredients.

As for the Bourbon, I like Maker’s Mark. I’ve learned that all Bourbon is made with corn and barley, but the defining ingredient is wheat or rye (thank you Mr. Phillips). Woodford Reserve contains 72 percent corn, 18 percent rye, and 12 percent barley, whereas Maker’s Mark “is reported to be 70 percent corn, 16 percent wheat (namely red winter wheat), and 14 percent barley.”
For each person, put in shaker:
2 oz Bourbon of your choice (but if you’re making it for me I like the wheat vs. the rye)
2 oz Amaro Nino which has an orangy flavor.
2 oz Aperol (now everyone knows what that is now, don’t you?)
2 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice (can’t wait to pluck them off of my newly planted tree!)
a serving glass portion of ice.
Shake and serve over ice in a tall skinny glass.
So refreshing!
